Radical Presence: Leading Organizational Change to Prevent Chronic Overwhelm and Advance Workforce Wellbeing
Aisha Walters
In this online course you will learn:
Social work organizations are navigating workforce challenges including burnout, recruitment and retention concerns, low employee engagement, socio-political overwhelm, intergenerational shifts, and workplace conflict. Too often, these issues are treated as individual employee problems rather than signals of organizational conditions that require attention.
This interactive workshop introduces Radical Presence, a people-centered leadership framework designed to help executive directors, managers, supervisors, and organizational leaders strengthen workforce wellbeing through intentional organizational change. Participants will examine how chronic overwhelm can emerge when workplace demands exceed opportunities for recovery and how factors such as supervision, communication, workload, recognition, psychological safety, and organizational culture influence employee experience.
Through guided reflection and organizational self-assessment, participants will explore evidence-informed strategies for building psychologically safe workplaces, strengthening reflective supervision, increasing employee voice and recognition, modeling healthy boundaries, and creating cultures that acknowledge emotional labor and secondary trauma. Participants will leave with practical strategies for reducing chronic overwhelm, strengthening retention and engagement, and creating organizational conditions in which employees and organizations can sustainably thrive.
