Human Readiness: Strengthening Retention, Leadership, and Workforce Resilience

Sheena Yap Chan

In this online course you will learn:

Social work organizations are navigating workforce shortages, secondary trauma, hybrid work, technological change, and growing pressure to deliver effective services with limited resources. Yet many leadership and retention strategies overlook a critical organizational factor: whether employees feel prepared and supported to communicate, contribute, advocate, and lead.

This interactive session introduces Human Readiness as the internal and organizational capacity that turns professional expertise into visible action. Using selected elements of the VISIBLEā„¢ Framework, participants will examine how Voice, Identity, Inner Work, Belief, and Spotlight influence supervision, psychological safety, staff engagement, retention, and leadership development.

Through realistic management scenarios and a practical readiness assessment, attendees will identify where hidden talent and communication gaps are weakening their teams. They will leave with concrete strategies for strengthening employee voice, recognizing emerging leaders, and creating conditions where social workers can contribute without sacrificing wellbeing.

Workforce resilience is not built by asking people to endure more. It is built by developing organizations where people can be heard, supported, and prepared to lead.
