Doctoral Scholars Instititute (DSI)


The Doctoral Scholars Institute (DSI) is for doctoral students who are conducting research in the areas of leadership, management and organizations.

Leading faculty and scholars will join with students to discuss current research in human services management and organizations; research-to-action collaborations with public and nonprofit organizations; publications and external funding; professional opportunities and more. Participants will engage in discussions about their dissertation research. Post-doctoral fellows are also welcome to apply.

Our discussants include management, organizational, and leadership scholars, researchers, non-profit leaders, and editors from the journal Human Services Organizations and the Journal of Community Practice.

DSI Chair

Allison Zippay, PhD is a professor at the Rutgers University School of Social Work and is the Director of the Center for Leadership and Management. She teaches in the Management and Policy (MAP) specialization at the School of Social Work, and previously directed the PhD program.  Her research focuses on community planning, supportive housing, and employment and income supports for low-income groups.
